چکیده

This paper introduces the performance evaluation of statistical approaches for Text-Independent speaker recognition system using source feature. Linear prediction (LP) residual is used as a representation of excitation information in speech. The speaker-specific information in the excitation of voiced speech is captured using statistical approaches such as Gaussian Mixture Models (GMMs) and Hidden Markov Models (HMMs). The decrease in the error during training and recognizing speakers during testing phase close to 100% accuracy demonstrates that the excitation component of speech contains speaker-specific information and is indeed being effectively captured by continuous Ergodic HMM than GMM. The performance of the speaker recognition system is evaluated on GMM and 2-state ergodic HMM with different mixture components and test speech duration. We demonstrate the speaker recognition studies on TIMIT database for both GMM and Ergodic HMM.

Text Independent Speaker Recognition and Speaker Independent Speech Recognition Using Iterative Clustering Approach

This paper presents the effectiveness of perceptual features and iterative clustering approach for performing both speech and speaker recognition. Procedure used for formation of training speech is different for developing training models for speaker independent speech and text independent speaker recognition. So, this work mainly emphasizes the utilization of clustering models developed for th...

Wavelet Feature Selection Using Fuzzy Approach to Text Independent Speaker Recognition

A wavelet feature selection derived by using fuzzy evaluation index for speaker identification is described. The concept of a flexible membership function incorporating weighed distance is introduced in the evaluation index to make the modeling of clusters more appropriate. Our results have shown that this feature selection introduced better performance than the wavelet features with respect to...

Comparison of Gender- and Speaker-adaptive Emotion Recognition

Deriving the emotion of a human speaker is a hard task, especially if only the audio stream is taken into account. While state-of-the-art approaches already provide good results, adaptive methods have been proposed in order to further improve the recognition accuracy. A recent approach is to add characteristics of the speaker, e.g., the gender of the speaker. In this contribution, we argue that...

Feature Selection and Classification Techniques for Speaker Recognition

Speaker recognition can be considered as a subset of the more general area known as pattern recognition, which may be viewed basically in three stages as: feature selection and extraction, classification, and pattern matching. Extensive research in the past has been directed towards finding effective speech characteristics for speaker recognition. But, so far, no feature set is found to be know...
